 Gum disease is often ignored by people and if left unchecked it could turn into serious damage to bones and tissues of the oral cavity. Plain and simple gum disease usually starts with minor bleeding and inflammation of gums called Gingivitis. It is the result of bacterial infections along the gum line (a colorless plaque that forms on the teeth). Periodontitis requires immediate attention and forms spaces or pockets below the gum line.
